HANGING A CEILING FAN OR LIGHT FIXTURE?

Offerings

Fixture Support Systems created the one-and-only support to add to your existing ceiling box, for ceiling fans and heavy light fixtures.

SIMPLE TO USE:

After removing your ceiling light fixture, check to see where the ceiling joist are (you can check with a stud finder or with a thin screwdriver on each side of your ceiling box to locate the ceiling joist. Be sure to use a thin screwdriver so the holes can be easily filled.) Your ceiling box may be hung between 2 ceiling joist by a hanger bar. After locating the first ceiling joist, check the spacing at 16" on center or 24" on center, to find the joist that is supporting the other side of the hanger bar.

If your existing ceiling box situation is:

  • A plastic box mounted onto the ceiling joist, use the EZ-Brace 101
  • A plastic or metal box on a hanger bar is mounted between 2 ceiling joists, with access above the box, use the EZ-Brace 200
  • A box on a hanger bar mounted between 2 ceiling joists, plastic or metal, with or without access above the box (attic), use the EZ-Brace 216 or EZ-Brace 224
  • A box with ceiling radiant heat and no access above the box, use the EZ-Brace 216 or EZ-Brace 224. Brace 216 or 224 requires patching.
  • A box installed with knob and tube wiring, with access above the box, use the EZ-Brace 200

The EZ-Brace supports are for the DIY or professional electricians.
